Board pledges for more open and honest conversions: February 2022
We will challenge each other if we observe awkward or inappropriate behaviours or comments
We look to the Chair to lead this but will all feel free to step in if we see things getting out of hand
We will ask “tell me more” and open questions rather than making assumptions on what we observe
We will all endeavour to check in with Andrew and the BLT more often to gain better understanding of their pressure points
We will check in with the BLT especially to ask if the way we feedback is effective or if we could do it more productively
Laura’s post meeting note:
I suggest we review how we’re doing on this at the September meeting
And meanwhile we adopt
The Curwen Gavel of 60 seconds
And
P - pay attention to what’s beyond the obvious, suspend hasty judgement
A - acknowledge the limitations of our assumptions/inferences
U - Understand other perspectives and explanations, retaining curiosity
S - seek out the facts, disconfirming evidence and weak signals
E - execute a more mindful response or plan
